Road Safety - High risk site monitoring

The evaluation of road-users' behaviour is a significant basis for recognizing and reducing the risk exposure at junctions, crosswalks, and railroad-crossings.

In the absence of proper instrumentation, this evaluation has usually been carried out manually and thus by way of infrequent and barely reproducible random sampling. Skilled persons have to inspect and analyse complex scenarios, mostly by utilizing video technology and supplemental sensors.

Smartspector’s camera systems have the capability to analyse vehicle passages by recording and rating its trajectory. The systems can also indicate detected traffic violations on site to improve awareness and compliance.

The new approach allows for continuous and objectified safety measures and thus for a significantly reduced accident rate at high risk sites. With this patented monitoring procedure, called 'evaluative motion-analysis', Smartspector masters the detection of presence, stopping and identification of a vehicle within a single device.

The fully automatic measurement principle perfectly complies with human perception. Meaningful result images document dangerous behaviour in a well defined and intuitively clear manner.

Smartspector camera systems are also available as IanusTM-models. The elaborated configuration of such camera-devices eliminates the storage and the acquisition of personal data for a given ambience. In this way, Smartspector IanusTM applications represent the markets sole high-definition traffic detection camera systems, that can be operated in public places without being subject to data privacy regulations.

The systems are primarily designed to implement statistical monitoring and enforcement on road and railroad crossings. The compact and ruggedized design is suitable for stationary as well as for portable and mobile fields of application.
