ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), also known as LPR (License Plate Recognition), AVI (Automatic Vehicle Identification), and CPR (Car Plate Recognition), is a challenging machine vision application. Today, ANPR systems are highly valueable instruments for a multitude of traffic and transportation systems - often in combination with supplemental roadside sensors.
Smartspector AuroraTM FC-1 is the one and only all-in-one traffic sensor worldwide having the capability to perceive motion and stopping of vehicles, gathering its identity by means of ANPR, and matching identification results with an internal database.
AuroraTM has the capability to read and match number plates with each and every acquisition cycle. Depending on application-type and licence, AuroraTM can capture and evaluate passages at a maximum rate as high as 30 frames per second, thereby readjusting the image contrast with each detection cycle.
Even as a number plate recognition system, AuroraTM FC-1 can operate in a so-called IanusTM-configuration, a preset operating mode, that covers all issues of privacy protection.
Three applied patents and a superior energy-efficiency − an average power consumption of 4 to 6 watt in temperate and hemiboreal climates is unique in the given field of application − support the fact, that Smartspector AuroraTM FC-1 is the achievement of a continuous pursuit towards perfection.
